There are a lot of national parks in Chile.
These are east of Lago Llanquihue, north of Puerto Montt.
They sort of spill over into Argentina.

Alerce Andino

In Alerce Andino the main flora is the trees they take the material for shingles out off
you'll find those houses all over Chile, but there seem to be plenty of the trees left
(for now)
Saltos del Petrohué's most outstanding feature: some sort of flies that bite you to the bloody bone.
Hordes of them.

Here as well, plenty of lakes -
this one, Lago Chapo, somehow looks artificial

but what you want to see are
volcanoes
