El Calafate

Must have been a nice place by Lago Argentino, not so long ago even. Then somebodies decided it would be great to develop tourism.
So the nice things are replaced by monstrosities which, as everybody knows, attract tourists in droves.
The boulevard is already choked with traffic most of the day; all in all, it makes you wonder
"When will they grow sick of the tourists and start to tar and feather 'em?"
Answer: pretty soon, and never.





We got there by driving from Torres del Paine, Chile on our way to Chaltén (also in Argentina.)
The real thing to see around there is the place where two or more glaciers join:
Join the throng at Perrito Moreno.
