Kabuki-cho
Shinjuku-ku

bars

You have to know the stylish Kabuki theater has a history of being just too bawd for public tastes.
First they banned the female roles, then they had to ban their male impersonators.
Naturally, in that neighborhood we found our first hotel. It's an instinct.

The place is still famous for its entertainment industry, ask any guide book. Where you have some sorts of entertainment, you get all sorts of filth; it is very rare to find so much rubbish in Japanese streets. And it was the first place in Japan where we discovered homeless hobos.
All of which goes to say that the place just vibrates with life.
