THE PRIDE AND THE PASSION
Stanley Kramer, 1957

The Pride and the Passion

Not by a long way my favorite director.
He succeeds to turn a very strong novel into a really hokey film.
As we've come to expect, C.S. Forester's anti-climax ending of The Gun has been completely written out.
Matter of fact, the only things left from the book are: It's set in Spain during the Napoleon wars; it's about a giant gun.

That said, the titles are fine and a real surprise. Remind you of Goya and Picasso.
And then, the photography by Franz Planer.
